Situated on the edge (0.5 Km) of the Lake District National Park, the Old Posting House is conveniently located for exploring both the Western and Northern Fells. Guided walks are available locally from Chris Billinge.

 

The nearest town is Cockermouth, a beautiful Georgian market town on the edge of the Lake District and home of Wordsworth House. Just outside of Cockermouth at the Lakeland Sheep & Wool Visitor Centre visitors have a real hands-on the opportunity to meet Cumbria's most famous residents.

 

For the more adventurous, the Cumbria Kart Racing Club is only 15 minutes drive along the A5086 at Rowrah, whilst walkers, moutain bikers and children are all well catered for at Whinlatter Forest.

 

"La'al Ratty" is a narrow gauge steam railway that runs for seven miles from Ravenglass on the coast to Dalegarth in the Eskdale Valley.

 

Woolfest is an annual festival celebrating all aspects of natural fibres - their sources, uses and products.

 

Whitehaven, famous for its bi-annual International Maritime Festival is a 25 minute drive away.

 

The Lake District Coast Aquarium, based in the coastal town of Maryport, is just 10 minutes drive away.
